Victory Day of Azerbaijan was celebrated in Budapest
Eastern dimension of Hungary’s foreign policy is becoming obviously more and more important. This has been documented by recent developments in the relations with Azerbaijan. It is not by chance that Victory Day of Azerbaijan was celebrated in Budapest with a number of events at the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Hungary and Azerbaijan House in Budapest.
This year is the second anniversary of Azerbaijan’s historic victory in the 44-day Patriotic War. As a result of this war, Azerbaijan ended 30-year occupation of its internationally recognized territories.
Within the framework of the First ADA University Alumni Forum in Europe held at the Embassy, Ambassador Tahir Taghizade informed the participants about ongoing reconstruction process in the liberated territories. Newly appointed Ambassador of Hungary to Azerbaijan Tamás Torma joined the event online and expressed his congratulations on Victory Day. Head of Representation Office of the Organization of Turkic States János Hóvári also delivered a speech in the opening of the forum.
Speakers of the first panel of the forum titled “Regional Development and Cooperation in the South Caucasus” – representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, and think tanks emphasized Hungary’s continuous support to the territorial integrity and sovereignity of Azerbaijan. Strategic partnership between two countries contribute to the organization of this kind of events and further development of mutually beneficial cooperation.
During the forum, photojournalist Reza Deghati demonsrated his photos taken during the First Karabakh War, as well as afterwards of the 44-day Patriotic War in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
On November 8, a concert was organized at Azerbaijan House in Budapest. Head of the House Ibrahim Safarli greeted the participants of the event and emphasized the importance of the day. Ambassador Tahir Taghizade also congratulated Azerbaijani community and emphasized that the speech delivered by the President of Azerbaijan on Victory Day serves as a strategic program for the Eurasian region. Young and talented students of H.Sarabski music school amazed the participants with their performances.
